Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique to restore the flow of blood and qi to the body.
A smooth edged instrument is used to make pressing strokes along tight or tense areas. It is a very effective treatment for releasing stubborn knots, or stagnation, in the muscles, as well as more general stiffness and pain.
Gua Sha can have an immediate effect on acute conditions such as cough and fever. It can also be used as a long-term restorative treatment for chronic conditions and as a diagnostic tool to better understand a patient’s health.
Gua Sha can relieve pain and stimulate the immune system and is used for a variety of conditions including:
- Musculo-skeletal pain: neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow etc…
- Respiratory conditions: cough, colds, flu and fever
- Inflammatory conditions: arthritis,
- Stress, insomnia and fatigue
How It Can Help With Musculoskeletal Pain
Gua sha can be used to help provide relief from musculoskeletal pain, stiff muscles and injuries.
Studies have shown that Gua Sha can be successful in relieving musculoskeletal pain. For example, a recent study found that Gua Sha can increase the range of movement and decrease pain.
This treatment is particularly beneficial for people who suffer with stiff necks, shoulder pain and back pain. Gua Sha is also able to reach smaller and larger joints which aren’t easily accessible.
Treatments are available for 60 minute sesisons.
